A Year of Memories

We had our meeting on Monday. Here are the layouts. I love how everyone interpreted the assignment---"One thing I know for sure" or "One thing I know is true."

 Carla's layout and journaling:
As with all little girls, Charlotte’s first haircut was vitally important to her Mom, Jamie and me, her Grammie.  Jamie wanted my long and trusted hairdresser, Josie, to do the cut. Josie graciously agreed, and when they were in for a visit we made the appointment.

As anyone can see by the expression in the first picture, Charlotte was not real sure she was happy about this haircut.

Charlotte was 3 at the time and a bit nervous.  Jamie and I stood close by sharing encouraging words, like you are such a pretty girl.  When Josie finished, Charlotte’s hair was just beautiful as we new it would be.

Now it was Jamie’s turn to get her haircut.  Charlotte stood with me watching her Mom getting her hair done.  All of a sudden Charlotte utters encouraging words to her Mom.  “You are such a pretty girl, Mommy.”  Of course, we all laughed.
Janet's layout---"1 Thing for Sure is---a chick is ruling Rustr's roost now." Unfortunately, the journaling was not in a format that I could cut and paste here. But the story begins with how her husband came to be called "Rooster" which he changed to "Rustr" for his email address. The second part of the story is how he husband never allowed their children mess with his stuff. But now that he has a granddaughter, that little chick can do anything!!
This is my layout: "One thing I know for sure---if you don't write down your stories, no one will remember them." I'm passionate about what I do. I've dedicated this layout to my classes. I've managed to get everyone telling their stories!

This is Pam's "11 Green Things" layout from last month.

Pam's layout---"One thing's for sure---if we hadn't moved to Devon Park, we wouldn't have this many friends."

Susan's layout---"one Truth---Freedom is not Free." She tells the story of visiting the tomb of the unknown soldier and what it meant to her and her husband.

Karolyn's layout: "1 thing I know: Time Flies."

Erin's layout: "One thing I know to be true---you can take the boy out of the country...but you can't take the country out of the boy." Her journaling:

"One thing I know to b true...you can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy. Kurt moved off of the family farm 10 years ago, and even though he has acclimated to "city life" of living in a subdivision and having pizza delivered, he still loves to go to the farm to work and hunt.  Being a country boy is always going to be in his blood."

We had just a couple of Photo Scavenger hunt layouts this month. The assignment is:
1. Catch someone napping
2. A fall display
3. A food dish
4. The family car
5. The Thanksgiving table

Most of us are waiting to get our photos from Thanksgiving but a couple were fortunate enough to have some old photos to work with.
Karolyn's layout. I'm always so envious of her memorabilia. Her mother saved everything including a tag from one of the turkeys. She also had a diary entry about their Thanksgiving.

Susan also had some really good old photos to use this month. I especially love the one where Pete's dad is napping and Pete and Michael have posed with him for a photo.

That's the thing I love about this club---and the photo scavenger hunt club---it allows you to use single photos that stand alone---that you couldn't necessarily build a layout around.

The AYM assignment for December is the number 5---for our "5 Senses." What better time of year to pay attention to the things we see, hear, touch, taste and feel? I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.
