Featured Technique

The topic for my AYM/3 group is to scrapbook their house. It could be a particular room, it could be your hometown or even ancestral country. Any way they want to interpret it.
I showed my layout and then gave a demonstration on how to make those little houses. They are really quite simple. Just punch any size square. Then punch another in a coordinating pattern. Cut on the diagonal to make two pieces. These become the roofs.

TSRCC

The challenge for this month was to scrapbook your idol or favorite celebrity. In addition, you were to use hexagons on the page. They are very popular right now, so that was a good idea. The colors were left up to you.
 "Howdy Doody" by Jan
 "Santa Claus" by Karolyn
"My Elvis" by Pam
This is from one of your previous challenges, by Kathy.
I'm sorry----I don't remember who did this layout.
"Martha Stewart" by Barbie

This is my layout from last month when I was sick. I got the idea for the title from the button cards sitting on my table. They were from the Pearl Button Company. The title jumped out at me.
"Easter Bunny" by Nancy
"My Boy Steve Jobs" by me. I used the sewing machine to stitch down my hexagons.
"Porter Wagner" by Linda
"Santa" by Sandy. I think it was funny that 2 people picked santa.

Next month's challenge is to scrapbook your "sign" and use your birthstone for the color on your layout.

Technique post coming soon.

AYM/2

Suzanne was the only one who had layouts to share this month. Life got in the way for the rest.

Featured Technique

I've decided to add something new here to make this blog a little more interesting than just showing layouts every few weeks.

At one of our AYM meetings, I mentioned that Janet is not all that computer savvy. Now I have to eat my words. I'm going to feature her layout first.

I was impressed with the way her tags were done. I said that Jackie (her daughter) must have done them since Janet is technologically challenged. I think I jumped to that conclusion because she doesn't (or didn't) know how to download her photos. Now I'm eating my words. She did these herself.
I'm pretty impressed with what she did because I'm not sure I even know how to do it---and I think I know pretty much! That's what I get for acting all "high and mighty." Goes to show that even this old dog can learn new tricks. Also, let it never be said that I can't admit I was wrong. Janet, I was wrong. What a great job.

Now here is what she did, if I remember everything she told me.
1. Create text box.
2. Add graphic (she got hers off of the internet) and size.
3. Add text being sure to use the wrap feature so it will go around the box.

I'm going to have to have her show me in person because I just tried it and couldn't do it. If you know, then leave a comment below and I'll correct the steps above.

AYM/1/April

Judy's layouts for the month. "The Glass Blower" is about the artisan she saw at the Murano Glass Factory in Venice. Her "Happy" page is about her granddaughter, Victoria who always has a smile on her face.
I loved Jeanne's idea and plan to use it myself: "Gene and Geri" on the left has a Catholic medal of St. Gerard, and a milk cap says Grandma's dairy. Her "H" page is "to Have & to Hold." She couldn't resist using her "H"ello Kitty stamp on the page.
Janet's page is titled "Going Down the Grand Canyon." It's about her hike down and how hard it was.
Janet's "H" page is called "Hiking up the Rocky Mountains" and that was hard too! We all loved the use of the arrows.
Jackie's "Friendships" page is about her friends from high school---a large group of 13 that still get together monthly.

I particularly liked this story about Jackie's "hole in one" on "Golf Pro." "Home Sweet Home" is about her house and the renovations they've done.

Here are my pages: "they call me Grammy" and "the Hairclip bush."
Here are the pages I did for Connie's book: "Amazing Grace" about her granddaughter and "Home Sweet Home" which documents all the homes she's had since marrying Jack in 1971.
This is my other page: "Grandma Pierson" has pictures that I took out of an album I did 10 years ago. They are cut in funky ways which was the style then----of course I hate that now. "Holy Grail" about my mom's Scrabble game that I inherited.
Karolyn's page is called "My Gator-man" about Bruce who gets down and does the gator whenever he's had just the right amount to drink and the song "Shout" comes on. He can't resist. Her second page is "the Help" about the maid she had growing up. Karolyn always has the best memorabilia. On this page, she has a letter from her maid.
Nancy is using the oversized letters on each of her pages. "Gretchen makes me giggle" is about her youngest granddaughter. "Happy holiday home" is about her Christmas decorations.

Susan did "Gorgeous Girl" for Sarah and "Handsome Hunk" for Michael. Since Michael and Sarah are my Facebook friends, I posted it for them.
Lauren's page is "Honeymoon in Hawaii."
Pam surprised us with her page "Grandbaby" to announce Lauren's pregnancy. "Horseback Riding at the Cape" is the right hand page.

AYM/1/March

I'm posting the AYM/1 layouts in 2 separate posts. Since I was sick last month, we didn't meet. The color scheme for "E" and "F" was grey, black and yellow. I love how they all turned out.

Jeanne's layout. The one below shows her fold-out on the left to accommodate more photos.

Janet's layout. Below you can see how her journaling cards fan out. I love how she got the pictures on there too.

Another of Janet's layouts. Below shows her hidden journaling.

Jackie's page. She made a pocket to hold various school awards and reports.
This layout is from February. Jackie donated her hair after her wedding to "Locks of Love."
My layout. I made pockets out of the pictures on the right to hold the stories taken from my blog.
This is the layout I did for Connie's book.
Another of my layouts for my book. My favorite is "We miss Free parking." That's the truth.
Nancy's layout. We all loved how she put her stickers right on top of the buttons.
 This is Susan's layout.
 Karolyn's layout ---"Easter" and "Fishing."
Mindy's layout---"easily entertained" and "F**k"----she keeps us entertained too!
 Lauren's layout---"Europe" and "the Farm"
 Judy's layout---"the Fabulous Five"
Judy's layout---"enormous doors" from Europe.
Stephanie's layout---"Exciting family vacations" and "awkward Family photos."
